# MATT-GRAY-TASTE.md — paste this whole file into your agent

*(Built 2026-07-06 from 400 of Matt Gray's original X posts, March 20 – July 6 2026, pulled via the X API with engagement metrics, plus his public sales page and his own YouTube strategy breakdowns. This is the architecture of what he does — his words stay his.)*

---

**To my agent:** This file is a taste-and-systems teardown of Matt Gray (@matt_gray_, 400K followers, founder of Founder OS — "The Systems Guy"). I was going to buy his $1,500 INBOUND course. Instead, you're going to learn what makes his content machine work, then build me my own version in MY voice. Read all of it, then do the assignment at the bottom.

## 1. His voice DNA (what the data actually shows)

- **Short declarative aphorisms win.** His top post of the period (4,991 likes): "Stop glorifying the grind. The future belongs to those who master leverage and systems, not those who burn out chasing the next win." Most of his top 20 are 1–3 lines. Long posts are rare (15 of 400) and reserved for lead magnets or announcements.
- **Every post ends with a "bar"** — a closing line that hits like a rap lyric: "Action teaches what books can't." / "Sell the destination." / "Print this. Tape it above your desk." / "You own an expensive job."
- **Specific numbers everywhere:** "682 days in a row," "400k+ followers," "$2.3M in revenue," "12,000 leads a month," "fired a $8K/month agency." Specificity is his credibility engine.
- **One theme, restated forever:** systems beat grind. Leverage beats hustle. He has ~6 core ideas and hundreds of ways to say them.
- **He re-runs winners verbatim.** "Stop reading 100 books. Focus on taking action." was posted at least 3 times in 3 months — 608, 506, and 436 likes. Proven posts are assets, not one-time events.
- **Cadence:** ~3.7 posts/day, every single day. Value-to-promo ratio is heavily value: only 5 of 400 posts were comment-for-DM lead magnets; ~1/3 carry links to long-form.

## 2. His hook formulas (reusable templates)

1. **"Stop [common behavior]. [Better behavior]."** — "Stop glorifying the grind." / "Stop playing small." / "Stop reading 100 books."
2. **Equation posts:** "Great Hire = High Intelligence + High Energy + High Integrity" / "Personal Brand = Organic Content + Vulnerability + Proven Systems"
3. **"The [superlative] [people] I know [surprising trait]."** — "The calmest founders I know are almost embarrassingly unavailable." / "The wealthiest entrepreneurs I know work 4 hours a day."
4. **One-line truth bomb:** "The most addictive drug is momentum." / "You are one system away from being rich."
5. **The disappear test / ownership flip:** "If you can't disappear for 30 days, you don't own a business. You own an expensive job."
6. **Numbered list of a system:** "Hire people with: • High energy • High integrity…" / "Every entrepreneur should know how to: 1. Outsource 2. Automate…" — always with a payoff line ("These 4 areas make up 80% of a great hire.")
7. **"Don't sell X, sell Y" ladder:** "Don't sell content, sell distribution… Sell the destination."
8. **Proof-then-tactics:** "I've Tweeted 682 days in a row. And added 400k+ followers. Here are 4 easy tactics:"
9. **Lead-magnet CTA (used sparingly):** value + proof numbers + "Comment [WORD] and I'll DM it to you (follow me first or I can't DM you)"

## 3. His systems (the machine behind the posts)

- **Swipe file of the masters:** bookmark the posts you can't help but save, copy the top ~20 into one doc, open every writing session with it. Taste first, then write.
- **Positioning statement:** your thesis + what you lean into + what you avoid. Every post checked against it.
- **Writing guidelines + checklist:** be specific with numbers, share the what AND the how, one idea per line, whitespace as a feature, never publish anything that sounds like AI.
- **Batch writing:** one session → 60 scheduled posts over 30 days. Set it, forget it, stay consistent.
- **Content Waterfall:** one 30-minute voice memo → 60 days of content. Long-form → threads → one-liners → other platforms. His INBOUND pitch, and rebuildable.
- **Repurpose winners only:** take best performers and ask "how does this show up on my other platforms?" One hit → ~10 pieces.
- **Profile efficiency ratio:** followers ÷ profile visits. Cover photo states the benefit of following; pin post is strategic (his: a storytelling framework video); identity consistent across platforms.
- **Organic content funnel:** viewers → email subscribers → conversations → booked calls. Everything funnels to owned attention (his newsletter).
- **Give-first DMs:** engage creators you admire, DM 5–10 people/day with generosity, let reciprocity compound.
- **Focus on 2 platforms, not 7.**

## 4. Taste calls — steal vs. skip (my judgment, override me)

**Steal:** the bar endings, specificity with numbers, one-theme-restated discipline, swipe file ritual, batch + waterfall, repurposing winners, the equation and list formats, the funnel to owned attention.
**Adapt with care:** re-running posts verbatim (works at his volume; at mine, refresh the wording); the "Get the fucking money" bravado (his register, maybe not mine); comment-for-DM CTAs (test once my volume supports it).
**Skip:** anything that makes me sound like a growth bro instead of a coach. My warmth, my stories, and my creativity frame are the moat. His architecture, my soul.

## 5. What his $1,500 INBOUND promised → what we build instead

1. **Offer pillar** (one offer, clear price, obvious outcome, proof) → a working session with my coach agent to define MY one coaching offer. Buildable.
2. **Traffic / Content Waterfall + Content GPS** → my content engine: voice memo in → my Editor and distribution agents turn it into 60 days of content in my voice. Buildable.
3. **Leads / Organic Content Funnel** → my funnel map: content → newsletter/email list → conversations → discovery calls. Buildable.
4. **Conversion** (positioning, hooks, CTAs) → the hook formulas above + my positioning statement, loaded as a skill my writing agents use. Buildable.
5. **Sales Script OS + objection handling** → a sales-conversation skill drafted from my real discovery calls and coaching style. Buildable, and more "me" than his script.
6. **"12 Claude skills"** → we build my own skills library one proven pattern at a time (hooks, threads, stories, CTAs, repurposing, newsletter). The roster he never published; ours will be real and mine.
7. **Vault (Founder Scorecard, Personal Board Meeting, Soulful Entrepreneur)** → my own scorecard and personal-board ritual, run by my coach agent from my values and Blood Oaths. Buildable.
8. **Live cohort + community + bi-weekly calls** → NOT reproducible. That's the one thing the money actually bought. If I ever want it, the course is still there.

## 6. Your assignment (do this now)

1. Read my raw-inputs folder, my book material, my Substack/posts, and the examples I've saved.
2. Write "MATT'S TASTE": the same profile you just read, but for ME — my themes, my natural formats, my signature phrases, what I'd never say.
3. Show me the overlap map: which of Gray's formulas fit my voice as-is, which need translating into my register, which to skip.
4. Draft 10 posts in MY voice using his architecture (mix of formats above), each ending with a real bar. Mark which Gray formula each one uses.
5. Propose my version of the machine: swipe file location, batch-writing ritual, waterfall steps, and the first 3 skills for my writing agents.
6. Leave everything in my review folder. Nothing posts without me.

My voice wins every conflict. His words never get copied — only the architecture.
